Say YES to Carbs on a Diet

People have been giving advice and tips on how to lose excessive fat where most information can be found online and offline through the internet and fat-loss books. About 90% of methods require a cut-back of carbohydrates and food intake in order to lose weight. However, there actually is a method that leads to successful, long-term, weight loss that does not require individuals to stop taking on carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are known to provide enough energy for daily activities; bread, pasta, rice, and grains are known as the main carbohydrates which lead to excessive fat. However, without enough energy provided by these carbohydrates, the body can turn on the starving mode and mess up the entire metabolism causing the body to store excessive fat around areas like the tummy, the thighs, and the underarms. To lose weight happily and healthily without affecting the desire for wholegrain bread, pasta, and peanut butter, individuals need to adjust their eating periods.
Eat Breakfast
The most important meal is your breakfast. Eating a heavy but healthy breakfast will help individuals to be active for the entire day without starving or craving for foods during the evening or in the afternoon. Vegetables and fruits along with enough consumption of carbohydrates will help individuals to start off a healthy day. Two slices of bread with peanut butter and a bowl of salad will not make you fat. However, it is true that once a heavy breakfast is eaten, the lunch will be smaller in portion, and the dinner may even be excluded if a fast diet or weight loss is needed depending on individuals themselves.
Consider the Healthy Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are energy sources for kids, teens, and adults. However, it is important to learn that teens need probably the most out of all ages as they are growing and are experiencing on-going puberty. The amount of food intake and calories needed per day though, is different from one teen to another according to their age, height, weight, gender, and activities done in a day and how much energy is being used. For an active individual, around 2000 calories until 2500 calories is needed.
Healthy carbohydrates include: brown rice, whole grain bread, cereal, green peas, and steel cut oats. Instead of having cocoa bits with milk, a cup of cereal or oat bits with milk can help you slim down and get enough energy needed for the day's beginning. It is important to learn and make changes to your diet. It is okay to be picky when it comes to food. Especially when going on a fat loss program on your own, it is essential to not starve yourself, eat healthy carbohydrates, and exercise daily.

Fit and Happy for Life

You ate a doughnut sitting in the break room at work (even though you swore up and down you wouldn't). You skipped the gym to meet friends for happy hour drinks (even though you said you would go five days this week). Now your whole week of fitness and healthy eating is a wash. And you are beating yourself up for it, right? How did I know? I have been there too; heck we have probably all been there at some point.
Kristin Neff, PhD associate professor of educational psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, observed how common it is for us to mentally punish ourselves this way, thinking we will shame ourselves into better behavior. But being our own Mean Girl is anything but productive.

In my early attempts to build a healthy lifestyle and fit body, I sacrificed my life for what I thought would make me happy. Days became structured around workouts and meal planning, preparation and timing. It became "all or nothing". One "bad" meal, one missed workout and I was a failure. I would beat myself up and chain myself to the treadmill. This attitude towards fitness began attracting attention. Social gatherings were difficult and family and friends questioned my eating habits.

Dedication became an obsession. Exercising and healthy eating was meant to enrich my life, not become my life.

As the old saying goes even "too much of a good thing can be bad". Striving to live a healthy lifestyle is one thing, letting it control your life is a whole new kind of beast. The moment your life is controlled by what you eat and how often you can get to the gym then it is time to reevaluate.

It was time for me to find a middle ground. Are you struggling with finding balance? Is it time to find your middle ground? What does that even mean?

Fitness and eating healthy should be associated with nothing but positive connotations. Exercise reduces stress and aids in maintaining a healthy weight. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables alongside whole grains and lean protein is the secret to living a long life. These are tools meant to make the things you enjoy doing even more enjoyable.

Middle ground is where you can enjoy a piece of birthday cake without worrying that it will make you gain weight. Middle ground is missing a workout without punishing yourself. Middle ground is not obsessing over the number on the scale.

Finding middle ground is NOT implementing the perfect diet plan or making a detailed workout regiment, but finding in the right mindset and also having self-compassion. A combination of the two can go a long way in motivating you.

"Self-compassion means being kind to yourself, especially when you make a mistake," said Neff. "As it turns out, caring about yourself is one of the best possible motivators for doing what's healthy for you rather than what's harmful to you."

Read more to learn how to be more compassionate with yourself and how to help find your middle ground.

First, drop the drill sergeant mentality. Stop using terms like "I have to... " and setting strict goals. You are setting yourself up to fall short and feel bad about it. Instead encourage yourself, like you would a friend. Neff says, "Motivate yourself to do the right thing not because you're inadequate, but because you want to be healthier, or land your dream job, or whatever your goal is. Keep your eyes on the prize, which is to be happy."

Jean Fain, a psychotherapist, at Harvard Medical School said, "Telling yourself mean things 'I shouldn't have eaten that,' 'I'm going to gain weight' is a setup for overindulging." This is because self-criticism stirs up negative emotions like anxiety and self-loathing, and we'll do whatever we can to get rid of them, like digging into the gallon of ice cream in the freezer. Next time you feel bad about eating a cookie, remember self-compassion. Instead of saying, "screw it" which could trigger overeating instead say "Its only ice cream. It is not the end of the world. Next meal I can go back to making healthier choices."

Life is meant to be enjoyed, so instead of letting "being healthy" control your life, let it make your life more fulfilling.

This is very important and while it may come across as slight self-absorbing, it's important to be critical of your thoughts as in these emotions lies the answer to resolving any issues you may have, plus it also helps you understand the way you were dieting and the way you can change your diet for the long-term.
Take for example when you're feeling sad or lonely and at what time in the day, do you consume more food when you have these feelings as your diet plan will reveal.
If so you need to address these states of emotion and how they can be turned into a positive.
Consider hanging out and catching up with your friends more, or doing something new.

If however you feel you may need some professional help, don't be afraid to approach your local medical practitioner for advice.

2. Takedown number of Kg's you've lifted each session:

You should take down the amount in weight you've lifted each session and the amounts of reps you've completed.
This is important because you may find that you are now lifting more weights than you previously were, which means your muscle glycogen levels have increased, but you may find that you haven't in fact lost any weight.
Do not worry - the reasons for this are 2 fold.
a. It means that you've gained more leaner muscle mass - you are toning up!
b. A lean muscle mass means you will stay leaner for much longer, making putting on weight that much harder.

3. Take lots of pictures and print them out:

There's nothing like looking at how you looked a week ago and how you look now.
It may sound like a week won't reflect that much, but only we ourselves can see the little positive changes our body is undergoing.
Make sure you do this from the very start and it will provide endless inspiration.
